The term “blank” implies a virtual, unknown, and imaginary state waiting to be filled with ideas. By intervening in animation via new media, this exhibition not only reviews the connotation of life but also reflects on the meaning of existence. The works in this exhibition are inspired by the “blank” that I experienced in an accident. Based on the persistence of vision and the balance of psychological cognition, the interaction between virtuality and reality becomes the outward appearance of dialogue, counteraction, and new media communication.

Early last year, I met with an accident when I had a lithiasis operation, during whichmy heart stopped beating for a while. I finally survived the operation after the emergency rescue performed by the surgeon. This experience granted me a new lease on life. My life had been gradually vanishing, and then entered an unprecedented blank. I felt nothing during the near-death period, while the physical pain I felt after being conscious made me count my blessings that I am still alive. Such excitement at resuscitation coursed through my veins and therefore prompted me to create these works.
