【一場穿梭於城市的行動,一段探索自身感受的冒險】


我們認為人群集體對城市的認同感構築出一種意識形態,形塑出「台北」這個「城市」動態平衡之印象,我們將藉由行動令觀眾暫時登出所屬的身份角色。以一種新的角度重新審視自己對於日常的認同。

《登出台北》將帶領著一場12名的觀眾,透過訊息、聲音、影像等新媒體的介入,脫離一個日常生活的角度,重新走入城市,觀看城市中的規則與自身在其中的樣貌。參與者會體驗約120分鐘的行動,穿越或停留於城市中不同的場域,透過一幕幕不同的設計,在一個截然不同於日常、卻又脫離不了真實的情境下,探尋自己熟知的這個城市、城市中的他人與自身的邊界。

整場城市行動分為五個部分,以上、下半場進行,每位參與者於行動一開始,獲得一支手機,專屬個人的客服人員(Emily),將進行語音引導,觀眾亦可透過耳機麥克風與Emily溝通詢問,整場城市行動將帶領觀眾體驗「登出台北」的主軸概念。


【An action that roams between the city. An adventure to explore your own senses.】


We believe that people’s recognition of a city can form a consciousness. It forges a balanced impression of the city, Taipei. We are going to make the audience log out of their status temporarily and examine the identity toward their daily life all over again in a new status.

Undefined Senses involves 12 participants per play. By the intervention of messages, sounds, videos and other forms of new media, the audience will be separated from their normal status and then re-enter the city, viewing the rules and themselves in the city. The audience will experience an about 120 minutes action, passing through or staying in different areas of the city. From the varied design of each act, the audience will explore the border between one’s self and others in an abnormal but real condition.

Undefined Senses is divided into five segments. There will be an intermission. Every participant will get a cellphone in the beginning and will be guided by a customer service whose name is Emily. Participants can also communicate with Emily through earphone. The whole program will lead the audience to experience the main concept of Undefined Senses.



對我們而言台北是一個有機的系統;消費型態、數據傳遞、共享經濟,乃至於文化、速度、政治、個體等等,城市本身均值化的特性與其中新舊的元素不斷消長。城市做為容器,容納並維持著動態平衡的狀態。我們想像在這個城市中的每一個人都有對這系統的認同感,無論是旅客或居民,這些在這座城市種種認同與行為共同建立了一套對事物理解的規則與邏輯,也形塑出對於這個城市的印象。

我們嘗試討論人群對於自身在這座城市系統與規則中身處位置的想像,無論是旅居或生活,城市中數百萬人必素昧平生,但每個想像卻共同凝聚出了「台北」的意識形態。而這場在「台北」發生的城市行動,將引導觀眾重新理解並觀看自身與這座城市相處的樣貌。

在新媒體藝術的媒介特定性中,作品包含參與,紀錄、溝通、訊息、空間,以及觀眾的介入,我們嘗試以這些本質,觀察、尋找並建立城市日常中行動的框架與準則。除了城市行動本身作為一件新的創作媒材,城市中的規則與認知亦可以做為新媒體被詮釋與討論。

法國策展人 Nicolas Bourriaud 視關係藝術作品作為社會的中介 (Artwork as social interstice),我們嘗試以「設宴」(Conviviality) 的角度邀請參與者與我們共同完成這場行動,並透過新媒體作為中介的催化劑,引導觀眾與創作者共同完成這樣行動,在過程中登出自身原有的身份角色,透過我們建構的藝術行動,重新觀察與形塑自我與城市互動的邏輯與認同。


Taipei is rather an organic cycle system to us. From consumption patterns, data transition, economical sharing to cultural patterns, pace, politics, individual and so on. The new and old elements change rapidly featuring the city’s average condition. As a container, accommodating and sustaining the balanced position, the city resembles an amoeba. We can imagine that everyone in the city has a recognition toward the system such as the using of Wifi, rapid pace in the stations, eating habits, keeping right in the MRT system, the way of walking in the city.Regardless of their background, the people's activity and recognitions towards the city construct the formula of understanding it, and therefore establish the impression of the city.

We try to discuss the imagination of people which define their position in the system. Regardless of traveling or living, there are millions of strangers. But every imagination of them agglomerate an ideology of Taipei. Undefined Senses will lead the audience to re-understand how they get along with the city.

In the specificity of mediums in new media art, included in the types of works are participants, communication, messages, space and the intervention of audience. We try to observe, seek and establish the structure and regulation of the daily movements by these materials. Except making the urban action a whole new media for creation, the regulations and acknowledgement can be interpreted and discussed as new media as well.

French curator, Nicolas Bourriaud, indicates that relationship artworks are artworks as social interstice. We attempt to invite participants to fulfill the action with us in the view of Conviviality. By making new media as the catalyst of interstice, we lead the audience to complete the action together. They will log out of their status in the process and reshape the recognition interacting with the city by Undefined Senses.
